Shola Adisa-Farrar is a Jamaican-American Artist who NBC News describes “traverses cultures with a special kind of versatility that comes from being a citizen of the world.” Born in Oakland, California, Shola began singing at a young age garnering attention for her expressive voice. Following her passion, she moved to New York City, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Music while immersing herself in the inner workings of the music industry.
In 2011 Shola made Paris her home base, launching her international singing career. Her debut album “Lost Myself”, a collaboration with French Jazz pianist Florian Pellissier was released in 2016. The album’s single, “Evolution,” garnered international acclaim, notably receiving airplay on BBC Music Radio by Gilles Peterson and featured in Spike Lee’s Netflix series, “She’s Gotta Have It,” Season 1. As a Music Ambassador for the Africa Regional Services department of the US Embassy in Paris, Shola has led nine artist trips across the African continent, and has headlined concerts in Europe, Asia, and North America, fostering collaborations with a diverse array of artists.
Amidst the COVID-19 lockdown, Shola embarked on virtual collaborations, resulting in “Isi and Shola Adventures,” a children’s animation series, and a six-song EP, “A World of Love and Hate,” with the Hogstad Brothers. Additionally, she partnered with Jamaican American producer Paris LaMont to release three singles recorded before the pandemic.
Shola currently lives in Brooklyn, NY where she remains deeply committed to artistic expression, wearing multiple hats as a Singer, Voice Actor and Live Events Producer.
